A bunch more photo sets today, as well as some news. I’m kind of doing this in a hurry. You know me, always wheelin’ and dealin’.
Well this is awkward. There wasn’t really any figure news I felt compelled to pass on this week. So today’s post will just be reviews. Lots of glorious reviews.
This week’s theme: diversity. A sports legend, a certain scientific railgun, a vocaloid, industry jargon, lots of plushes, and… a naked guy? Plus more photography!
Let’s see if I have the diligence (and expression, and knowledge, and understanding, and courage) to run a weekly news roundup for figures. I already write for a figure news site but this post is geared towards only stuff I like. So expect to see plenty of NSFW things and butts. I am nothing without my love of butts.
Seriously, this review is pretty NSFW. Sometimes, you see a figure and you just goddamn love it. That’s pretty much what happened to me with Hobby Japan’s Leviathan. If you were to make a list of things I fetishize in character design, Leviathan checks almost all the boxes: devil girl, single fang, tsundere expression, exposed midriff, the all-important zettai ryouiki, and just that little bit of pinch on her thighs from the stockings. The only things missing are glasses, twin tails, and being featured in Evangelion.
If you shoot with flash, chances are you’ve heard of David Hobby, who runs the Strobist blog. I recently happened upon his 2012 year-end post, which led me to a great article about the blue hour. Well, nominally it’s about the blue hour, but the article’s more about how we can creatively use colored light.
