There’s really no point in saying that Cowboy Bebop lacks depth or structure, because it really wasn’t the aim of the series.  Seeing it as 26 short stories, your mileage will vary on a per-episode basis, but the work as a whole is a stunning success thanks to its incredible cast and exceptional panache.
