The week in figures: April 26, 2013

Let’s see if I have the diligence (and expression, and knowledge, and understanding, and courage) to run a weekly news roundup for figures. I already write for a figure news site but this post is geared towards only stuff I like. So expect to see plenty of NSFW things and butts. I am nothing without my love of butts.

That’ll do it for this week. I’m off to C2E2 for the weekend!

  • A man who doesn't love butts isn't capable of knowing love, I am thinking. It's funny you mention about Sheryl Nome's figures looking derpy (I think that one Nose Art figure definitely qualifies); I was skimming through the Tsuki-board page and saw quite a bit of contention regarding the attractiveness of her face. I think she looks pretty great but I guess I can see how it might be divisive, particularly given how prominent her nose is ... I guess noses aren't moe or something. Neither are lips. Sometimes when I write about figures, I stop and think to myself, "God, I sound like a crude, corny loser here ... I'm gonna tone it down." Then I read Mikatan's blog posts and Kotobukiya's product copy and feel better. While Sheryl looks great and there are some other nice figures that went up for preorder in the last few days, I think the most significant figure is Enterbay's MJ doll; it looks pretty awesome. Too bad it doesn't seem to come with the 92 Jordans, though, those are the ones I had when I was a kid.
    • Sheryl's face looks more mature, which is fine by me. I think it looks nice, maybe a bit too sad. The MJ doll is pretty awesome, I agree. They should make some other NBA legends for him to crush - Ewing, Barkley, a Mutombo one would be great.
