Let’s see if I have the diligence (and expression, and knowledge, and understanding, and courage) to run a weekly news roundup for figures. I already write for a figure news site but this post is geared towards only stuff I like. So expect to see plenty of NSFW things and butts. I am nothing without my love of butts.
- Orchid Seed’s Alleyne gets painted
I feel like her face is too small, but the rest of the figure is a beauty. I think it’ll be very photogenic.
- My review of Tekken Bishoujo Jaycee
I really enjoyed shooting this set, playing with different lighting setups and focal lengths.
- Mikatan previews Max Factory’s Sheryl Nome (part 2 here)
I think most Sheryl figures look derpy but this one is just gorgeous. She has other good assets as you can see by the header for this post.
- There are some assholes out there bootlegging Snow Miku
Be sure you don’t get bamboozled! If you can bootleg a figure, can’t you design your own? The quality might suck but at least you won’t be unoriginal. You don’t wanna end up like that Hahvahd guy from Good Will Hunting.
- Lantern Miku is just too damn cute
This one’s by Alphamax. I don’t get why Good Smile Company’s Mikus are so rarely this creative. Get more creative, GSC.
- (NSFW/Gore) Spotted some badass garage kits on Figure/GK
According to MFC, they’re made by Shokubutsu Shoujoen, the same group who made the awesome Torikago no Shoujo figure. Although gory, I really like the way they look and their overall uniqueness. The first one is Yuzuki Kanako from Mouryou no Hako. I don’t know how/why she’s just a torso but that figure is beautiful in a haunting, disturbing, brutal sort of way. The second one is Chizuko Hakoiri from MPD Psycho. I do know how she became a torso, and it’s a very tragic tale that sets the tone for the manga.
- Tentacle Armada has a review of the 2011 Racing Miku up
Tier did a great job as usual. I can’t help but feel Miku is a bit too mainstream for him, but he does say he finds this one appealing for her distinct look. She is quite different from the other racing Mikus, for sure. I also love the backdrop he used; it complements the figure’s futuristic look perfectly.
- exilehero at Otagamers posted a set of Kuroneko looking smug at various places
It’s more a photo tour of Japan, but I just love the phrase “Kuroneko looking smug.”
- Sheng posted some highly adorable photos of the Cu-Poche Haruka Amami on her blog (part 2, part 3)
I love the scenes she built and the overall cuteness factor. They were promoted on Kotobukiya’s Facebook page, so I wasn’t the only one impressed.
That’ll do it for this week. I’m off to C2E2 for the weekend!
